Gilded Pumpkins
It all started with a simple Question!
Q: I was hoping to see instructions on the beautiful techniques you used for the pumpkins in Country Living Magazine. I saw the gilding technique in the magazine but not how you stenciled. Can you please tell me what to do?
Many thanks, Phyllis
A: The magic is in the Sticky Size. Where ever you put the Sticky Size the metal leaf will stick. On the pumpkin that had the Gold leaf vines and flowers I painted the size on with an artists brush. Some of the pumpkins I traced a stencil on in pencil and then painted in or around the pencil marks with the size. After he size is dry all I did was rub the metal leaf all over the pumpkin and it stuck only where I had sized.
Hope this helps, have fun!

Here Pam is applying pieces of tape cut in to Scrolly-olys. After its Sticky Sized and the Leaf is applied. She will pull the tape and reveal the green color underneath.
We wanted to give a variaty of looks to our pumpkins. So we started playing. Starting with our Basecoated fake pumpkins and gourds.

We used the Sticky Size like a paint.
As the Sticky Size drys it becomes clear and shiny so you can see what yo painted.

...and yes we gilded everything we could find.

...even our lunch!
