Here is the letter that started our Country Living Artisans Collection!

Ms. Tisha S. Leung, Decorating Editor
Country Living Magazine

Dear Tisha,

My career as a decorative painter came about as a result of your magazine. When my daughter Elizabeth (now 17 years old) was barely able to sit up, you published a dining room with walls that had been ‘rag rolled’. They were the most wonderful walls I had ever seen. When I finally found someone who knew how to complete the finish, his price was more than the cost of diapers for a year!

I was empowered to learn how to do it myself. It was not easy. I carried that photo to at least 7 different paint stores and purchased many quarts of paint that didn’t work. After numerous attempts I created a look close to the walls I coveted. It was these walls that launched my new career. I wish I had saved the article…I still remember the picture exactly!

Not much has changed for your readers. They see a beautiful layout in your magazine and try to duplicate it for themselves.   I know this because many of your readers, my clients, show me their favorite page and ask me to achieve for them what they see. They often tell me how they tried but could neither find the materials nor figure it out on their own.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the process was made simple and your readers could purchase a kit at the end of the article that enabled them to achieve the same look? Not only that, but these materials would work better than anything else currently available to consumers?

There are literally hundreds of ideas we could present to your readers. Everything from a glazed wall to gold leaf stars for the Christmas tree to summer patio furniture with a vintage distressed look can be created. The possibilities are endless.

Sincerely,

Carol Kemery

PS: I have successfully painted the look of that dining room many times for my clients…just to tell you the happy ending to my story!
