A distressed fireplace mantel for the editor of Country Living

Carol and Sue recently traveled to the home of Country Living Magazine editor Nancy Soriano.

Carol and Sue were faced with Nancy's white mantel and charged with making it interesting and amazing...fitting of a magazine editor's living room.

The amazing story of the preservation of Nancy's fireplace and mantel is a story that the magazine now tells in the current November Issue of Country Living.

Country Living Magazine's assistant editor Kirsten Fields along with photographer Keith Scott Morton helped Carol and Sue turn distressing into a fun filled event.

What was most fun is that Nancy rolled up her sleeves and helped paint her own mantel.  Carol and Nancy were having so much fun, and going so quickly that photographer Keith and his computer specialist Eric could not keep up with them.

The mantel was layered with Country Living's Artisans Collection products from our Barnworn Kit.  Using First Chocolate Textured Basecoat and then Putty Textured Basecoats with Chipping Creme inbetween layers of Textured Basecoat , the mantel was transformed from ordinary to extraordinary in less than one day!

While they were there, Carol and Sue and their magic box of tricks came in handy for the editorial staff working on other areas of Nancy's home as well.  The Country Living Artisans Collection materials were used to help a frame around a photo, a frame around a print, a shelf and a bulletin board that needed makeovers for other rooms being shot at the same time for the magazine.

Behind the scenes photos for you to enjoy.
