Carol Kemery
ARTIST • DESIGNER• FOUNDER
Carol Kemery is the founder of Caromal Colours and a decorative painter, interior designer, color expert, and watercolor artist whose work has been shaped by decades of experience in both residential and commercial interiors. She founded Great Walls in 1991, then continued her training at The Finishing School in New York, where she studied with Robert Marx, author of Professional Painted Finishes, later joined the faculty, and established a permanent Pennsylvania teaching studio for the school.
Over the course of her career, Carol has completed commissions from Florida through New England for leading designers and private clients, including work with Albert Hadley and projects for Bruce Springsteen’s home. Her interiors and decorative finishes have also been featured in national publications, including Country Living, and her work includes notable spaces such as The Russian Tea Room, Sushi Samba, the Revlon Building in New York City, Hollywood Casino, and Fred Tiday’s Street of Dreams show home in Pennsylvania.
Carol’s work today spans interior design, cabinet and furniture painting, color consultation, and product development. Through Caromal Colours, she created a line of specialty paints designed to make beautiful, professional-looking finishes more accessible at home, while still reflecting the depth, restraint, and livability that define her approach to color. Her paint line is also featured on HSN, where she appears regularly.
Alongside her work in interiors and decorative finishes, Carol also creates watercolor paintings, extending her eye for color, atmosphere, and composition into a more personal body of artwork now available through the site. This connection between paint, interiors, and fine art is at the heart of Caromal Colours: a belief that color should feel considered, timeless, and deeply at home in the spaces we live in.
OUR TEAM

Al Kemery is the quiet force behind Caromal Colours, managing the behind-the-scenes details that keep the business strong, steady, and growing. Before joining Carol in the business, he spent his professional career in nonprofit leadership, serving as the National Executive Director of Contact USA.
A lifelong lover of soccer, Al spent years coaching his children, later coaching at the collegiate level and eventually officiating the game as a referee. At home and at work, he is known for his steadiness, generosity, and sense of humor. He and Carol have built Caromal Colours together while also building a full family life, and he is a proud father of four and beloved Poppy to seven grandchildren.

Rachael supports Caromal Colours behind the scenes through website design, digital strategy, and creative direction. She is also the founder of Rising Iris Farm, where she brings together flowers, botanicals, and skincare in a distinctly thoughtful, sensory-driven way. She resides in CT on her beautiful flower farm with her amazing husband and four children.
